N\u00eb t\u00eb kund\u00ebrt, nj\u00eb substanc\u00eb e quajtur baz\u00eb ul p\u00ebrqendrimin e joneve t\u00eb hidrogjenit dhe vlera e pH rritet mbi 7. Kjo do t\u00eb thot\u00eb, se \u00e7do tret\u00ebsir\u00eb n\u00ebn pH 7 \u00ebsht\u00eb acid, dhe \u00e7do tret\u00ebsir\u00eb mbi 7 \u00ebsht\u00eb alkaline. Meqen\u00ebse p\u00ebrdorim logaritmin dekadik, 1 pH m\u00eb pak do t\u00eb thot\u00eb nj\u00eb rritje 10 her\u00eb e aktivitetit t\u00eb H<sup>+<\/sup>. N\u00eb sip\u00ebrfaqen e k\u00ebtij xhami t\u00eb ndjesh\u00ebm jan\u00eb atome oksigjeni t\u00eb ngarkuar negativisht (nga SiO<sub>4<\/sub>) q\u00eb mund t\u00eb lidhin jonet e ngarkuar pozitivisht t\u00eb nj\u00eb madh\u00ebsie t\u00eb p\u00ebrshtatshme &#8211; jonet e hidrogjenit (dhe gjithashtu jonet bazike, por me m\u00eb pak forc\u00eb). <\/p>\n<p>Sa jone hidrogjeni jan\u00eb t\u00eb lidhura n\u00eb sip\u00ebrfaqen e xhamit t\u00eb ndjesh\u00ebm varet nga aktiviteti (p\u00ebrqendrimi) i joneve t\u00eb hidrogjenit n\u00eb most\u00ebr. Sa m\u00eb e madhe t\u00eb jet\u00eb rrjedha e elektrolitit, aq m\u00eb e mir\u00eb \u00ebsht\u00eb p\u00ebrgjigja e elektrod\u00ebs. [2] <\/p>\n<p>Elektrodat standarde <strong>me nj\u00eb bashkim t\u00eb vet\u00ebm kan\u00eb elektrod\u00ebn e referenc\u00ebs<\/strong> n\u00eb kontakt t\u00eb drejtp\u00ebrdrejt\u00eb me mostr\u00ebn (Figura 3). Kloruri i argjendit i pranish\u00ebm n\u00eb elektrod\u00ebn e referenc\u00ebs mund t\u00eb ket\u00eb tretshm\u00ebri t\u00eb ul\u00ebt n\u00eb most\u00ebr, k\u00ebshtu q\u00eb gjat\u00eb kontaktit me mostr\u00ebn, precipiton n\u00eb faqen e jashtme t\u00eb kryq\u00ebzimit duke rezultuar n\u00eb lexime t\u00eb rr\u00ebmbyeshme. K\u00ebto elektroda kan\u00eb nj\u00eb ndarje shtes\u00eb p\u00ebr elektrod\u00ebn e referenc\u00ebs me kryq\u00ebzimin e brendsh\u00ebm.
