Betrachtet man die Zusammensetzung des aerober granularen Schlamms (AGS), so handelt es sich um eine Art Biofilm, der haupts\u00e4chlich aus Bakterien besteht, die sich selbst immobilisieren, eine sehr kompakte Struktur und eine hohe Sedimentation der Biomasse aufweisen. Die Merkmale von Granulatschlamm sind die Toleranz gegen\u00fcber toxischen Inhaltsstoffen, die Aufrechterhaltung des Redoxsystems und die F\u00e4higkeit, die hohe organische Belastung zu regulieren.
