Die Wassermenge, die w\u00e4hrend einer Titration umgesetzt wird, kann anhand der Gesamtladung, die den Generator durchlaufen hat, berechnet werden. Nach der Karl-Fischer-Reaktion (in protischen L\u00f6sungsmitteln) wird 1 Mol Wasser durch 1 Mol Iod titriert. Bei der oben beschriebenen anodischen Reaktion wird 1 Mol Iod mit 2 Molen Elektronen erzeugt. Die Faradaysche Konstante besagt, dass 1 Mol Elektronen 96485 Coulomb (C) Elektrizit\u00e4t entspricht. Die Oberfl\u00e4che der Kathode ist im Vergleich zur Anode viel kleiner, so dass das erzeugte Iod reagieren kann, bevor es m\u00f6glicherweise die Kathode erreicht. Das Reagenz wird auch modifiziert, um die Bildung oxidierbarer Schwefelverbindungen zu
