Le chlore se combine avec des compos\u00e9s contenant de l&rsquo;azote pour former des chloramines, durant lesquelles seule une partie du chlore sera utilis\u00e9e tandis que le reste reste actif, continuant son action d\u00e9sinfectante.<\/p>\n<p>En tant que l&rsquo;une des formes de d\u00e9sinfection les plus anciennes et les plus courantes, le chlore am\u00e9liore la qualit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;eau en d\u00e9truisant les micro-organismes pathog\u00e8nes et en r\u00e9agissant avec d&rsquo;autres substances organiques et inorganiques. Les niveaux de chlore doivent \u00eatre surveill\u00e9s activement pour garantir la pr\u00e9sence d&rsquo;une quantit\u00e9 suffisante de chlore pour la d\u00e9sinfection, ainsi que pour contr\u00f4ler les effets ind\u00e9sirables tels que le go\u00fbt, l&rsquo;odeur et les r\u00e9actions potentielles avec la mati\u00e8re organique pour former des sous-produits de d\u00e9sinfection nocifs.<\/p>\n<p>La <strong>d\u00e9sinfection<\/strong> est un processus de destruction des organismes pathog\u00e8nes (ou pathog\u00e8nes). Le <strong>chlore (Cl\u2082)<\/strong> est un d\u00e9sinfectant tr\u00e8s souhaitable car, lorsqu&rsquo;il est m\u00e9lang\u00e9 \u00e0 de l&rsquo;eau pure, il r\u00e9agit pour former de<strong> l&rsquo;acide hypochloreux (HOCl) et de l&rsquo;acide chlorhydrique (HCl).HOCl<\/strong> ( chlore actif libre) est la forme de chlore la plus efficace pour la d\u00e9sinfection des piscines, des spas et de l&rsquo;eau potable.<\/p>\n<p>Le <strong>chlore combin\u00e9<\/strong> est la quantit\u00e9 de chlore qui s&rsquo;est d\u00e9j\u00e0 combin\u00e9 avec des compos\u00e9s contenant de l&rsquo;azote. Il est beaucoup moins efficace comme d\u00e9sinfectant que le chlore libre. L&rsquo;ajout de chlore combin\u00e9 et de chlore libre donne le chlore total. Dans le traitement de l&rsquo;eau de piscine, un gestionnaire de piscine doit viser l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre parfait o\u00f9 le chlore libre et total sont proportionnellement \u00e9gaux, et ainsi maintenir les niveaux de chlore combin\u00e9 proches de z\u00e9ro. La pr\u00e9sence de chloramines est ind\u00e9sirable en raison de l&rsquo;\u00ab odeur de piscine \u00bb distinctive ainsi que de l&rsquo;irritation des yeux et des muqueuses caus\u00e9e par les chlores combin\u00e9s comme les dichloramines.<\/p>\n<p>Le chlore libre r\u00e9agit avec les ions ammonium et les compos\u00e9s organiques pour former des compos\u00e9s chlor\u00e9s ; cela se traduit par des capacit\u00e9s de d\u00e9sinfection diminu\u00e9es par rapport au chlore libre. Les compos\u00e9s chlor\u00e9s et les chloramines forment du chlore combin\u00e9. Le chlore combin\u00e9 et le chlore libre donnent le chlore total. Alors que le chlore libre a un potentiel de d\u00e9sinfection beaucoup plus \u00e9lev\u00e9, le chlore combin\u00e9 a une stabilit\u00e9 beaucoup plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e et une volatilit\u00e9 plus faible.<\/p>\n<p>Le chlore commercial pour la d\u00e9sinfection peut \u00eatre disponible sous forme de gaz (Cl2), de liquide comme l&rsquo;hypochlorite de sodium ou l&rsquo;eau de Javel (NaOCl) ou \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9tat solide comme l&rsquo;hypochlorite de calcium, les chlorohydanto\u00efnes ou les compos\u00e9s d&rsquo;acide chlorocyanurique. Ces compos\u00e9s, une fois dissous dans l&rsquo;eau, \u00e9tablissent l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre entre l&rsquo;acide hypochloreux (HOCl) et les ions hypochlorite (OCl\u00af). Bien que les deux formes soient consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme du chlore libre, c&rsquo;est l&rsquo;acide hypochloreux qui fournit la caract\u00e9ristique d\u00e9sinfectante et oxydante la plus forte des solutions chlor\u00e9es. La quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;acide hypochloreux dans l&rsquo;eau chlor\u00e9e d\u00e9pend de la valeur du pH de la solution. Les modifications de la valeur du pH affecteront l&rsquo;\u00e9quilibre du HOCl par rapport aux ions hydrog\u00e8ne et hypochlorite.<\/p>\n<p>Comme le montre le graphique, HOCl diminue et OCl\u00af augmente \u00e0 mesure que le pH augmente. \u00c0 un pH bas, presque tout le chlore libre est sous forme mol\u00e9culaire HOCl, et \u00e0 un pH d&rsquo;environ 7,5, le rapport entre HOCl et OCl\u00af est de 50:50. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que la forme ionique OCl\u00af est un d\u00e9sinfectant \u00e0 action lente tandis que le HOCl mol\u00e9culaire est un d\u00e9sinfectant \u00e0 action rapide, il est important de mesurer le pH r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement. En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, un pH d&rsquo;environ 7,2 est recommand\u00e9 pour maintenir des conditions de d\u00e9sinfection \u00e0 action rapide.<\/p>\n<p>Le chlore est utilis\u00e9 comme d\u00e9sinfectant dans l&rsquo;eau potable et dans divers proc\u00e9d\u00e9s industriels, le dioxyde de chlore est un microbicide tr\u00e8s efficace et respectueux de l&rsquo;environnement. Le dioxyde de chlore est s\u00fbr, puissant et ne produit pas de trihalom\u00e9thanes, le sous-produit de d\u00e9sinfection caract\u00e9ristique de l&rsquo;utilisation du chlore.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les municipalit\u00e9s d&rsquo;eau potable<\/strong> ajoutent du chlore \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire \u00e0 l&rsquo;approvisionnement en eau sous forme de chlore gazeux, d&rsquo;hypochlorite de sodium liquide ou d&rsquo;hypochlorite de calcium sec. Dans l&rsquo;eau, ils forment des ions chlore libres, qui d\u00e9truisent les agents pathog\u00e8nes pathog\u00e8nes, r\u00e9duisent les odeurs, \u00e9liminent les bact\u00e9ries et aident \u00e0 \u00e9liminer les \u00e9l\u00e9ments ind\u00e9sirables. L&rsquo;USEPA exige que le d\u00e9sinfectant r\u00e9siduel soit pr\u00e9sent dans l&rsquo;eau potable finie pour s&rsquo;assurer qu&rsquo;il y a du d\u00e9sinfectant disponible dans tout le syst\u00e8me de distribution, le chlore agissant comme l&rsquo;un des d\u00e9sinfectants qui fournit ledit r\u00e9sidu. Cependant, l&rsquo;EPA a \u00e9galement fix\u00e9 un niveau de contaminant maximal de 4,0 mg\/L pour le chlore libre en raison des effets potentiels sur la sant\u00e9 au-dessus de ce niveau.<\/p>\n<p>La chloration de l&rsquo;approvisionnement en eau et des eaux pollu\u00e9es est principalement utilis\u00e9e pour d\u00e9truire ou d\u00e9sactiver les micro-organismes pathog\u00e8nes. Le chlore sert \u00e9galement \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 des eaux potables, car il r\u00e9agit avec l&rsquo;ammoniac, le fer, le mangan\u00e8se, le sulfure et certaines substances organiques. N\u00e9anmoins, des quantit\u00e9s \u00e9lev\u00e9es de chlore produiront des effets n\u00e9fastes tels que la formation de compos\u00e9s potentiellement canc\u00e9rig\u00e8nes (par exemple le chloroforme) ou nocifs pour la vie aquatique (par exemple les chloramines). Il reste essentiel de contr\u00f4ler la quantit\u00e9 de chlore ajout\u00e9 afin de remplir l&rsquo;objectif principal de d\u00e9sinfection tout en minimisant les effets ind\u00e9sirables.,<\/p>\n<p>Les hypochlorites sont des agents de blanchiment courants utilis\u00e9s pour blanchir les textiles et le papier et pour d\u00e9sinfecter les solutions. La solution d&rsquo;hypochlorite de sodium a \u00e9t\u00e9 traditionnellement utilis\u00e9e pour le traitement de l&rsquo;eau de piscine car il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une forme de chlore peu co\u00fbteuse et facilement disponible. La solution contient g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement 10 \u00e0 15 % de disponible. chlore (\u00e9quivalent \u00e0 100 \u00e0 150 g\/L), mais il perd rapidement de sa force lors du stockage. De plus, comme il est fortement affect\u00e9 par la chaleur, la lumi\u00e8re, le pH et les m\u00e9taux lourds, il doit \u00eatre surveill\u00e9 r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement.<\/p>\n<p>Une m\u00e9thode de titrage iodom\u00e9trique est utilis\u00e9e dans le kit de test HI3843. La solution d&rsquo;hypochlorite est trait\u00e9e avec de l&rsquo;iodure de potassium et fortement acidifi\u00e9e avec de l&rsquo;acide (\u00e9tape 1). La quantit\u00e9 d&rsquo;iode g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e est \u00e9quivalente au chlore dans l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon.
