En pratique, la concertation est plus souvent utilis\u00e9e que l&rsquo;activit\u00e9. <\/p>\n<p>En termes plus simples, <strong>le pH est une mesure de l&rsquo;acidit\u00e9 ou de l&rsquo;alcalinit\u00e9 d&rsquo;une solution aqueuse..<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le terme \u00ab pH \u00bb signifie \u00ab pondus hydrogenii \u00bb ou \u00ab le potentiel de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne \u00bb et il a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduit pour la premi\u00e8re fois par le biochimiste danois, Soren Peter Lauritz Sorensen, en 1909. <br \/>Au cours de ses recherches, il a souvent eu besoin de mesurer le degr\u00e9 d&rsquo;acidit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon et a trouv\u00e9 plus pratique d&rsquo;\u00e9crire la concentration d&rsquo;ions hydrog\u00e8ne sur l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle logarithmique d\u00e9cadique (par exemple, 0,0000001 mol\/L H<sup>+<\/sup> devient pH 7). Cela signifie que chaque solution inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 pH 7 est acide et que chaque solution sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 7 est alcaline. Puisque nous utilisons le logarithme d\u00e9cadique, 1 pH de moins signifie une augmentation de 10 fois de l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 de H<sup>+<\/sup>. Lorsque les ions hydrog\u00e8ne se lient au verre sensible au pH, un potentiel \u00e9lectrique est g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9. L&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyte fuit de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence dans l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon, fermant le circuit \u00e9lectrique et rendant les mesures possibles. Plus le d\u00e9bit de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyte est important, meilleure est la r\u00e9ponse de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode. [2] <\/p>\n<p>Les \u00e9lectrodes \u00e0 <strong>jonction simple standard ont l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode<\/strong> de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence en contact direct avec l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon (image 3). Le chlorure d&rsquo;argent pr\u00e9sent dans l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence peut avoir une faible solubilit\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon, ainsi lors de la prise de contact avec l&rsquo;\u00e9chantillon, des formes pr\u00e9cipit\u00e9es sur la face externe de la jonction entra\u00eenant des lectures d\u00e9rivantes. Dans des conditions d\u00e9favorables (haute pression, haute temp\u00e9rature, haute conductivit\u00e9), le flux de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrolyte peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre invers\u00e9, entra\u00eenant la contamination de la demi-cellule de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence et une d\u00e9faillance compl\u00e8te de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les \u00e9lectrodes \u00e0 double jonction<\/strong> ont, comme leur nom l&rsquo;indique, deux jonctions (image 3). Ces \u00e9lectrodes ont un compartiment suppl\u00e9mentaire pour l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrode de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence avec la jonction interne.
